How to Enter DNS Records
DNS providers use slightly different labels, but every record still has a type, a host or name, and a destination or value.
Where to find it: Admin → Settings → Domain and your domain provider’s DNS screen
What to do
- Match the record Type shown by Red Bricks OS.
- Put the displayed Name into the provider’s Host or Name field. A root record may be represented by @ or a blank field.
- Put the displayed Value into the provider’s Value, Data, Points to, or Target field.
- Leave priority empty unless the on-screen instructions give one.
- Use the default TTL when you are unsure, then save.
Good to know
- Do not choose a provider preset unless it produces the exact record shown.
- Some providers hide the root name or automatically append your domain; that is normal.
